> Hello, World!
Christine Hwang
Third-year CS and cybersecurity student at William & Mary. I want to bridge the gap between technical teams and the policy and decision-makers they answer to — turning complex security and technology risk into terms leaders can act on.

Who I Am
I am a third-year computer science/cybersecurity student at William and Mary, heading into my last year of university. I am drawn to this field because it hosts the intersection of emerging and evolving technologies, risk mitigation, and implications with national security. While I am building the technical skills necessary to understand cybersecurity threats and frameworks, I also understand the importance of soft skills such as distilling information for the appropriate audiences, building rapport with potential partners and clients, and heading into conversations with others with curiosity at the forefront.
Outside of coursework you'll usually find me constantly trying new things and chasing unfamiliar experiences. I am a big advocate of embracing discomfort in order to grow as a whole person, and believe these new experiences and skills all tie together in my academic and work life.

Things I've Built
An HPC file-transfer benchmarking suite that times, monitors CPU/RAM/network, and checksum-verifies transfers between cluster nodes across both many-small-file and single-huge-file workloads. Includes MSC and MCD — two multithreaded, multi-socket copy tools written in C — benchmarked against scp and dd through a SLURM-driven harness.
Androguard-based static analysis of 199 real-world Android APKs for TLS certificate-validation misuse, over-privileged and unused permissions, and unguarded exported components (CWE-295, -250, -926; OWASP MASVS). Every automated finding is run through LLM triage and a manual sample, then reported with a per-check precision rate — the study's real result is where scanners are trustworthy versus where they just generate alert fatigue. Co-authored research paper included.
A low-fidelity product concept for an immersive VR cybersecurity-awareness platform that drops users inside realistic phishing and social-engineering scenarios to build threat-recognition instincts in real time — targeting the ~83% of breaches that trace back to human error, where slide-and-quiz training falls short. Built with a William & Mary team for the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative's Innovate Cyber Challenge, where it won $500 (Spring 2026).
